Boxycharm: April Box Review

I got last month’s FOMO box so late in March, that I did not realize how soon I would get April’s box (April 9th). Regardless, I am still excited to share the results. This month’s theme was seemed to have a festival focus, probably because this month is also Coachella and Country Thunder.

This is what came in the box this month:

Pur The Complexion Authority – Festival Palette: MSRP: $36

The colors in this palette are pretty and quite pigmented. The funny thing about palettes like this is that I would typically only use about 4 colors out of 16. The rest would go to waste so I will be giving this to my sister since she is a frequent festival participant, and she would actually use most of these colors. The glitters on the right end side is literally just glitter, the pink comes from the pink I couldn’t get off the brush. When taking it off my arm, it took a bit of rubbing and soap to get it all off. So it’s safe to say the product stays on.

Artist Couture – Diamond Glow Powder: MSRP $27

It took me forever to figure out how to open the container. There is a little plastic film over the holes where the powder comes out when you first get it. I had to eventually take tweezers to get the film off.  Love this product, it stays on and my face looks plenty shiny.

Steve Laurant – Lip Gloss: MSRP $22

This lip gloss is way better than the lip gloss that came last month. It is a nude color and it actually keeps your lips moisturized.

Beauty for Real – Finish Line Liquid Eyeliner: MSRP $16

I love pen eyeliners. They make life a lot easier sometimes. This pen is no exception. I’m still good at drawing lines all over my face.

Luxie – The Summer Daze 3PC Brush Set: MSRP $28

I’m still trying to figure out what the brushes that came in the FOMO box did. Now I have a small contouring brush, a brush to put on the eye shadow, and a brush to blend out the eye look. I’m glad that now I have brushes to go with the eyeshadow kits that I have gotten.

Closing Thoughts:

Total MSRP: $129

I would like to point out that this box was worth .01 more than the last box.

I am excited to get May’s box.

Boxycharm: FOMO March Box Review

By on April 12, 2019

*Disclaimer: Thoughts are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinion of anyone else.

I have been looking at subscription makeup boxes for a long time and last month it was finally time to get one. I was in the market for some new makeup, so I scoured the internet for comparisons of all the different subscription boxes. While Boxycharm was more expensive ($21) versus Ipsy ($10) or Birchbox ($13), it was frequently noted that Boxycharm had full sized products and not mostly sample sizes like the other two.

I did purchase this box in late March, just late enough to miss the regular box, so I received the FOMO box. Boxycharm said that the box would get 15 days to get to me. It only took 12, but it felt like the longest 12 days of my life.

Upon receiving the box, I was so excited! The only disappointing thing was that some of the content’s packaging in the box was slightly bruised. It would probably be the products that you would pick around at the beauty store. Regardless, my happiness grew as I got to review the contents.

Tarte Rainforest of The Sea Highlighting Eyeshadow Palette Vol. III: MSRP: $36

I really loved this palette! Even the brown colors have shimmer. These colors are just wonderful and stayed on my eyelid like eyeshadow should do.

Superhero Mascara – IT Cosmetics: MSRP $24

I actually really liked this mascara. It only took a few swoops to match/surpass my other fiber mascara that has two steps. There is a definite difference in volume. I would say that I would be included in 96% of people who saw dramatic volume & length, and plumper looking lashes (that they advertise on the box). This mascara is also cruelty free.

Bright All Night Energizing Sheet- Tula Probiotic Skincare: MSRP $24

My road roommate Gina and I tried on these sheet masks after a long travel day and practice. To take out the mask and put it on was kind of like a puzzle. My face had a slight burn with it on, so did Gina’s by her nose. However, I still wanted to wait and see the results of the mask. About a half hour later my face is as smooth as a baby’s bum. Pretty awesome.

It’s nice, but I would like to see how this compares to cheaper facemasks. I probably wouldn’t purchase it on my own, but I’m not a facemask connoisseur yet.

Powder and Soft Glow Kit – MODA Brushes: MSRP $29.99

These are brushes. I did a test with some powders and highlights and they seem to work well. Essentially, these brushes do their job. I really like how the handles feel in my hand and the color of them is really pretty.  These brushes are cruelty free and vegan.

Opaline Top Gloss – Oryza: MSRP $14.99

I like the color, glossiness, and the sparkles! It does make your lips feel pretty dry, so put on chapstick beforehand. but I’m so happy to have a gloss it doesn’t matter to me.

Closing Thoughts:

Total MSRP: $128.98

The price-point is definitely there. I would say that this box was with the $21 that I put in. The products were useful to me and I will continue to use them.

I am excited to get April’s box really soon.

Marking of a New Era

By on April 10, 2019

Hi everyone! My name is T and I am a senior at the University of Arizona. Actually, I will not be a senior for much longer since there is only about five more weeks of class left. Then I will be graduated and off to the real world. I have some things to keep me preoccupied for now, like college softball, but it will soon it will come to an end.

Just like many girls, I have struggled with not knowing a lot about makeup or style in general. Actually, my boyfriend has better taste in clothing than I do. Yet, I have always been interested in the topic of beauty, but I have no idea where to start.

This blog marks the start of a new era.

You the reader, will come along with me on the journey to figure out what beauty and fashion is all about. With not only me, but also you being honest, about everything from product reviews to what I’m wearing.  I will be trying out lots of products and if I’m using something totally wrong, please tell me!

I know the best thing I can wear is confidence and a smile on my face, but who says that a little make-up or a nice outfit can’t hurt either?

With the right attitude, that double duty can do some wonders. I just know it.

Put in the comments below what type of products you think I should try out first!

T 🙂
