InnerPro Sports App Review

Conveniently, on my way to Israel to play softball, I was given the chance to test out an app called InnerPro Sports. It is a player development program that focuses more than just physical ability. 

This app provides tailored workouts for positions, nutrition, mental game training, and personal self-reflection. 

I tested out the app while I was playing in Europe this summer. Typically, the program runs for $34.95 a month and has a free 14 day trial. 

These are the results: 

Training: 

This app provides legitimate training workouts are extremely tailored. Not only to which position you play, but takes into account soreness, if you have recently played or have a game coming up, and what kind of equipment is accessible to the user. 

I really like how customized the workouts are, especially if you do not have access to equipment. There is always a video of someone showing how to do the exercises. It reminds me of a workout DVD which is fantastic.

There has certainly been a lot of thought and research put into these workouts. 

The workouts were great because of how specific they are, but the only downfall is that when it comes to dumbbells it does not tell you how heavy to lift. At UofA, we used a program called BridgeTracker which automatically put how much to lift (with adjustments if necessary) and it would track all of the weight over the years.   

Mental Game:

I personally believe that the mental game is so important. Just because someone has the skill, does not mean that they have what it takes between the ears. It will make or break you. 

Personal Evaluation Training: 

L1: Understanding where you are now and where you want to go.

L2: Creating the best version of yourself. 

L3: Performance. Gaining consistent access to your skills. 

The video quality is excellent. The graphics are wonderful and the speaker, Eric is great. I watched all of the videos and I have learned a lot. I am on my way out as a competitive athlete, but all of this information can be applied to the real world. 

Nutrition: 

The app provides a good breakdown about what you should be putting in your body to hit your target to lean, maintain, or gain weight. It also makes it easy to understand macros and how much you should be consuming (which has always been confusing to me). 

The only downfall is that you would have to write down elsewhere (either by hand or another app) what foods you are consuming and how it fits in with your goals. 

Create Your Game (Morning and Evening Routine): 

Every day, this is where the user would look to where their destination is. They can put photos of what success looks like and read/expand upon what their own personal “Athlete Belief System” is.  In the morning, the user writes down what their targets of the day are and, in the evening, they can grade their progress. 

This is really good for people who really want to envision success the same way every day or for those who need reminders of why they do what they do. 

It creates a routine for an athlete, so they are not just going through their day without purpose. 

Generate State: 

I love this part of the app. This is where you can compile all the good things you have done and have it in one place. There is certainly something to be said about seeing all of your highlights and how it makes you feel. It is all about mindset and seeing yourself play your sport well makes it reality. If you can do it once, you can do it again.

Conclusion: 

For the holistic view of an athlete, I find this program fantastic for all athletes regardless of level.

Two Key Points:

  • The Personal Evaluation Training is by far going to be extremely useful for high school/college aged athletes. It should be assigned by coaches as homework and discussed. 
    • As I enter into the real world, I can take what I learned and tailor it to the job sector. 
  • The training workout will be best for young athletes, athletes who are on break from school who want a variation in their training, and older athletes past college who may not have access to trainers. 

For me, the price point ($34.95 per month for an individual) is worth it if you don’t have access to trainers or the app is used consistently for physical and mental training regiments.

European Championships 2019: Israel Softball

Now that I am back from Europe, I was finally able to recollect all my thoughts from the European Softball Championships! We got 9th place and went 7-2 at the tournament. That does, however, end our Olympic quest.

This tournament format is much different than I am typically used to. It starts out with pool play where it is a round robin with 5 teams. Based on how you do in the pool, then you get sorted into a separate pool for a more tournament style. There was three of these pools. The top pool was where eight teams would fight to be top six in order to qualify for the European/Africa Olympic qualifier. We were in the middle pool and fought for country pride and to earn the highest ranking possible.

It was such a great experience to be able to play teams from all over Europe and Russia. Everyone speaks different languages and they all come from different experiences and levels of softball. It’s fascinating to see all the different customs that these teams have and how they interact with the game.

Israel Softball definitely surprised a lot of people and I can’t wait to continue what will be the future legacy of this team.

Summer Sunburn Misery

*This is a fun repost from a few years ago. I am still in Israel and you will hear more about that soon! 🙂 

I’m really white. Not the Starbucks frappuccino, Ugg Boots, and leggings type of white, but my skin is so pale that when I go outside I’m being cooked like a pizza. I have always had my run ins with the sun, but let me tell you about the summer from a few years ago.

I feel like I should have known better about protecting myself since skin cancer runs in my family and I have had some lesions cut out for prevention, but you live and learn.

Then this happened when I was working softball working camp:

The sun double burned me on the neck and legs. I wore long socks with shorts, but the sun still got me in the space between. Now, I have a sliver of a tan in the crack of my knee on my left leg where I got burned the worst.

Now after all of this you would think that I would just never go out in the sun with my skin uncovered ever again? Right? Wrong.

Now I’ve really learned my lesson. It’s a real hassle sometimes to put on multiple layers, but that’s something that I have to do to keep from turning red in .2 seconds of being outside.

Now you tell me, ” T this is why you should get a base tan.” and to that I tell you “NO!”. I already have my permanent hand tan and I’d just rather not take the time to damage the rest of my skin cell DNA.

My body reacts a certain way to the sun for a reason and when I’m sun safe, I’m happy.

Because I totally *much sarcasm* go swimming so much I bought this long sleeve swimsuit and swim pants from the internet. The top is from somewhere in China that I got off Amazon and the bottoms (which look like leggings, but I promise they are made for swimming) are from a modesty swim suit website.

This outfit was THE GREATEST THING EVER when I went swimming at my friend’s birthday party.  I didn’t have to worry about the sun and I had fun at the pool. How great is that?

Even though I felt like I looked like a total mom in it, I could not be any happier being outside.

Circumstances are different for everybody, but it is important to become comfortable in your own skin and ignore everyone’s crap. You have to be able make yourself happy before you can make anyone else happy.

It definitely took a lot of time to get comfortable wearing pants and long sleeve shirts all the time around other people growing up. Not because I was physically uncomfortable, but because people would always say: “Aren’t you hot?” or “You’re so pale, you should get some sun.”

Now if I just tell someone who asks why I do what I do they are like “Oh, that makes sense”.

Strange thing that in the 115 degree Arizona heat I promise having my full body covered doesn’t make my body temperature any hotter than yours. It sometimes even has a cooling effect.

Moral is to get comfortable with yourself and always reapply sunscreen after 1.5 hours.

Dr. Oz 3 Day Detox Cleanse Fail

My college best friend, Michelle, and I decided that we were going to do the Dr. OZ 3 Day Detox Cleanse because it’s the beginning of summer and why not?

Little did I know that I would make people’s day on Snapchat with how much I got my life together with this cleanse.

How much did I get my life together you ask?

Not at all.

And I’m about to give you this experience as real as Kim K’s ring.

So let’s begin with the price: Reading other blogs and reviews, I thought the price tag on this 3-day ordeal was going to be close to $100. Surprisingly, it cost me $63 for three days. I did, however, skip out on the Epsom salt and tea mostly because T does not like the taste of tea and I already had Epsom salt. I was pretty pumped because I read about people having good results from this cleanse.

Day 1: 

The first drink was not too bad, it was warm when I juiced/blended it so I put it in the fridge for a bit to make it colder. It was drinkable.

Then came the demise of the detox:

Even though I was pretty traumatized by that event, I drank whatever was left of the celery-cucumber lunch concoction and then made the dinner juice for later.

I’m not going to lie the breakfast and dinner juices were not too bad, but the lunch one was just not good at all.

I don’t know why the lunch recipe calls for so much celery and cucumber, but it fills an entire quart Ziplock baggie and trying to get all the ingredients inside my tiny blender seemed impossible.

Day 2/3: 

So I did not give up, I just opted to eat food with my juice drinks… I was making sure that my calorie intake would be enough in order to do physical activity… so that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

The juices tasted better during the 2nd and 3rd day because I think I knew what to expect this time around.

I also wound up going to In-n-out late after WCS on Friday night, but hey I got a lettuce wrapped patty. Which was actually really good and totally worth it.

I’m keeping track of what I consume on MyFitnessPal, so I’m still keeping to my goals, but this juice thing was a nightmare. Especially if you’re an on the go person, who is not always home for meals (aka staying over at a friend’s house).

As a side note, on day 2 I did feel less bloated.

I also clearly don’t know how to work a blender. Live and learn, but at least nothing is broken so some success right? 

Juice is not my answer for trying to start my forever journey for eating better, which will begin once I stop eating chocolate chips directly from the bag.
